Sometimes our farmers in Japan create an extra special tea. One that gets a little extra care and ends up being extraordinary. That's our Superior Matcha (ceremonial grade).
Like all matcha, this is an ultra-finely ground green tea, with a bright emerald green color. The flavor is pure and rich umami, with a slightly lower bitterness. It is also packed with the amino acid L-theanine, antioxidants (catechins) and high caffeine content.

Matcha is a special type of green tea where the tea plants are grown in the shade, which increases the chlorophyll content in the leaves. After harvesting, the leaves are ground into a fine powder that is dissolved directly in water. This produces a concentrated drink that preserves all the nutrients. The result is a rich and vegetal tea with a mild sweetness, full of L-theanine and a deep umami flavor.
- Has a naturally high caffeine content of around 60 mg per cup (for comparison, coffee has around 80 mg)
- Caffeine can improve mental alertness and concentration
- L-Theanine contributes to a feeling of calm, relaxation and focus
- Can increase metabolism
- Contains more antioxidants than any other tea
With all these benefits, matcha is an excellent source of natural energy. If coffee makes you jittery or overstimulated, matcha can offer a steady supply of energy over a longer period of time.
What is L-Theanine?
L-theanine is a unique amino acid that stimulates alpha waves in the brain which are associated with producing a calm and relaxed mind.
L-theanine is found exclusively in tea, but Matcha contains the highest level.

How to brew matcha?
- Heat water to 80 degrees. Or boil water and mix in a little cold water.
- Take half a teaspoon (1-2 grams) in the cup and pour over the water.
- Preferably use a whisk or small milk frother to mix. Alternatively, stir with a teaspoon.

Remember:
What will affect the result in the cup is the water temperature and the amount of matcha you use. If the water is too hot, the tea will be bitter. The cooler the water, the sweeter the tea will taste. Our suggestion is the most common preparation method called usucha. You can also make a stronger variation, called koicha, with double the amount of matcha and half the water.
An organic product is produced in a way that takes the environment into account by not using chemical and synthetic pesticides. It's good for the planet, but also for the tea, the farmer and you. By buying organic teas, you support healthy and long-term tea production.
NO-ØKO-01
We are proud to be the largest Norwegian brand importer of organic tea. To be approved by Debio and use the definition Organic, not only must the ingredients be certified organic, but our own plant must also be certified by Debio and controlled by Mattsilynet.
In addition to import controls from the Norwegian Food Safety Authority, we go beyond the requirements by also taking random samples for pesticides/pesticides and other pollutants.
It is important that tea is stored protected from air and light. That's why we sell all our teas packed in tight aluminum bags with a zip lock.
